Constructed in the late 1890's, this building was originally a garage for a house in South St. Paul. Today the building was being used as a shed in a backyard with the originally house having been moved a block over. In the picture to the left you can see where the original garage door had been filled in.
When BPLC was asked to come take the building down. The building had been neglected for many years and a large hole hand formed in the roof on one side. Luckily there was still a good amount of wood that was salvageable but a lot had been lost to mother nature. The building was constructed with four large 8x8 timbers in each corner and 8x8 beams running around the perimeter at the top. 4x4 posts were used as studs and to hold up the second floor loft. All of this sat on a a walk out limestone foundation. |
